3 cups sugar
6 eggs
3 cups cake flour
1/2 pint whipping cream
2 teaspoons vanilla
Cream butter and sugar; then add one egg at a time. Mix in vanilla. Add flour and cream alternately, starting and ending with flour. Bake 1 hour and 15 minutes @ 325. Leave in oven 10 minutes longer after oven is turned off.

hi somer - love the recipies and love the idea of a festive dessert on a holiday. i did something similar and everyone loved it. I took a tray of brownies and covered them with a cream cheese ising then put bluerries for the "stars" and strawberries for the red stripes - the ising made the white stripes and we had a "flag cake" - i was really short on time so i bought the browies from Sams club (ok i'm not the cook you are)but it was really good and looked great - wish i had gotten a picture. Thanks for the fun ideas - charlotte
btw - i brought the leftovers into the office and they are gone.
hanover, huh! :) up 15 or 83??
that dessert looks fab.
