Dulce de Leche Ice Cream
while i was making the strawberry sorbet i decided to try this ice cream that i had spotted in gourmet magazine. this ice cream was very easy to make and was sooooo good. here's the recipe...
... recipe from the may 2007 issue of Gourmetmagazine
2 cups whole milk
1 cup heavy cream
1 pound dulce de leche (i used carnation brand)
1/8 teaspoon vanilla
3/4 cup chopped pecans, toasted
Bring milk and cream just to a boil in a heavy saucepan over medium heat, then remove from heat and whisk in dulce de leche until dissolved. Whisk in vanilla. Cool completely.
Freeze mixture in an ice cream maker 25-30 minutes, or until almost firm, then add the pecans.
Transfer ice cream to a container and put in freezer to harden.

It's 9:45 EST and I'm ready to have some of this now! I'll take some of the sorbet as well. You are a terrific chef.
