Black Bean Pineapple Salsa

the saltiness of the tortilla chips goes great with the sweetness of the pineapple.

finely chopped pineapple
sweet onion, finely chopped
red chili, finely chopped
fresh cilantro, chopped
lime juice
olive oil
salt and pepper
tortilla chips, for serving

Felting

i've been learning how to felt. this is my first felted project. felting is knitting something in wool and then purposely shrinking it in the washer. with warm water and agitation the fibers start to cling to one another and end up creating a whole new fabric. sue got me the book Felted Knits for my birthday and it is a great book for first time felters.

Ice Cream Cone Cakes

jodie's birthday is sunday. we made these for her to take to school today to share with her class. she had a great time decorating them yesterday. i made white cake batter and then cooked the batter in the cones just like cupcakes. then i added a couple of drops of food coloring to canned vanilla ice cream.

Birthday Present

some friends gave me these cool tags for my birthday last week. i finished knitting a vest and sewed my first tag in yesterday! it was so fun! it gives the vest a more finished look.

Trafalgar Square

the girls are back in school again, but they had today off for an in service day for teachers. so we made what is becoming our usual no school day trip to trafalgar square, the national gallery, mcdonalds, and starbucks. this picture was taken in front of the fountains at trafalgar. someone offered to take it for us after he saw me trying to give andi instructions on taking a picture of jodie and me.
